ONCE IN ’79: Barry Andrews – “Me And My Mate Can Sing”

“May 24, 1979

BARRY ANDREWS already has a single out on his own since quitting XTC. It’s a four track EP called “Town & Country” that features “Me And My Mate Can Sing,” “Bring On The Alligators,” “Mousetrap” and “Sargasso Bar.”

Some of these are songs that XTC had rehearsed but never recorded. On the EP Andrews is aided by David Marx on guitar, Rob Wilford on drums and borrowed XTC bassist Colin Moulding. Barry would resurface in the ‘80s as the leader of a group called Shriekback.”
