UNDER THE RADAR: Pavo Pavo – “Ran Ran Run”

UNDER THE RADAR: Pavo Pavo – “Ran Ran Run”.

Pavo Pavo make weightless pop music that sounds like it was beamed down from a glimmering utopian future. The Brooklyn five-piece (formerly known as Plume Giant) met and began writing songs while studying together at Yale, and now that they’re entangled in the Brooklyn music scene, they share members with San Fermin and Sam Cohen’s backing band, and other members have collaborated with Dave Longstreth and Here We Go Magic’s Luke Temple.

“Ran Ran Run” positively glows, moving from psychedelic orchestral stateliness to punchy hand-clap pop without missing a beat, with synths, piano, and shimmering Grizzly Bear-esque vocal harmonies flitting in and out at will.
