MIXTAPE: Yearbook 1984, Pt. 2 by Little Records

“Yearbook” is our survey of a particular year in music — in this case, 1984. In this two-part series, we delve into some of our favorite songs from this year. As there was a wealth of great releases from ’84, in Part 2 we focus on the second half of the alphabet (artists filed under M–Z). The Minutemen sang of the real world, the Meat Puppets told of a lake of fire, PiL had no interest in love songs, and R.E.M. had persuasion on the mind. We’ll also hear from Miracle Legion, Tones on Tail, Siouxsie and the Banshees, This Mortal Coil, Venus in Furs, The Replacements, New Model Army, Tupelo Chain Sex, The Verlaines, Naked Raygun, The Three Johns, Opal, Nikki Sudden, OMD, The Pastels, Plasticland, Wire Train, The Smiths, Toxic Reasons, and much more.
